My wife Lisa and I proudly own David List Mortgage Consultants, a mortgage brokerage originally established in 1993. Since taking over from my business partner in 2018, we have continued to operate as a family-run business, combining decades of industry expertise with a truly personal touch.

We are a homegrown, independent business—not a franchise or part of a larger network—which allows us to work in an “old-fashioned” way, where the customer always comes first. Unlike some brokers, we never push sales; instead, we focus on providing the honest, tailored advice our clients deserve.

After leaving the Army, I began my career in financial services in 1998, progressing from data entry roles to branch manager positions at major building societies, before becoming a self-employed mortgage broker. This journey has given me a wealth of knowledge and experience, enabling me to assist clients with a wide range of needs.

Our advice is COMPLETELY FREE, and any fees we may charge are only payable at the end of the mortgage process, if we cant secure you a mortgage we do not charge anything.

I joined the Royal Signals in 1992 as a young single man and absolutely loved my time in the Army. After five fulfilling years, I made the decision to leave in 1997 to settle down and transition to civilian life.

During my service, I completed my basic and trade training at 11 & 8 Signal Regiment in Catterick Garrison. As someone who grew up in Birmingham and had little experience outside the West Midlands, I was eager to travel the world on my first posting. Much to my surprise, I was posted to 30 Signal Regiment in Nuneaton—just 25 miles from home!

Over the years, I had a variety of postings and tours, but the highlight of my military career was spending three months in South Georgia. It was an unforgettable experience that I could never have imagined outside of the Army, and one that gave me a deeper appreciation of the incredible opportunities the military offers.
