My financial goals align closely with yours. Like many, I aim to ensure that while I'm working, I’m making provisions for retirement, allowing me the freedom to stop working before reaching my state pension age, should I wish.

While earning, I’m focused on maximising my savings by taking advantage of tax benefits available to me. I also aim to protect my income, ensuring my mortgage is fully repaid in the event of my death. Additionally, I want the flexibility to retire when I choose, without my son having to pay unnecessary inheritance tax. These are all part of my personal financial plan.

⚫ More About My Military Career

I joined the army right after completing my A levels, during the time when the Women’s Royal Army Corps (WRAC) was still active. After basic training in Guildford, I moved to Ashford for a second set of training with Intelligence Corps recruits, before finishing my trade training in Loughborough.

I spent a year training and then headed to 13 Signal Regiment in Germany to begin my army career. My time in Germany was followed by a stint at the Ministry of Defence and three years in Northern Ireland with 225 Signal Squadron. My final year was spent at RAF Wyton in Cambridgeshire before I was medically discharged in 1995 following a life-changing accident in 1989 that resulted in me being medically downgraded.
