⚫ About me

Your financial goals may be quite similar to mine. I want to ensure that while I'm earning, I make provision for my retirement to give me the freedom to stop working before my state pension age, if I want to.

While I'm working I want to take advantage of any tax advantages available to me which will (hopefully) maximise the growth of my savings. I want to make sure I financially protect my income and ensure my mortgage is fully repaid in the event of my death. I want to ensure I have the opportunity to retire when I want to. I don't want my son to pay any unnecessary inheritance tax in the event of my death.

All of these goals form part of my financial plan. If you've started thinking about any of these things and haven't yet spoken to an Adviser, then now's the time! The levels and bases of taxation, and reliefs from taxation, can change at any time. The value of any tax relief depends on individual circumstances.

⚫ More about my military career:
I joined the army immediately after doing my A levels, back when the Women’s Royal Army Corps (WRAC) was still operational. I did my basic training in Guildford and then hot-footed down to Ashford to start another set of basic training; this time with a new intake of Intelligence Corps recruits. I headed up to Loughborough for the final part of my trade training. After a year of training I finally headed out to 13 Signal Regiment in Germany to start my army career. I did 3 years in Germany during which time I came back for 6 months to work at the Ministry of Defence. I then headed off to Northern Ireland to spend 3 years at 225 Signal Squadron.

I ended up at RAF Wyton in Cambridgeshire for my final year at Army EWOSU. I was medically discharged in 1995 due to the fact a significant and life-changing accident in 1989 meant I was medically down-graded and could no longer progress.

Why would you consider someone who is ex-forces to work with? Well, we are hard working and are used to long hours (we’ve all worked nights, weekends and bank holidays and the army doesn’t give you overtime! 😉). We are loyal and hard working and if we like you, you’re a friend for life. We’ll never refuse a brew but we’ll have your back and do our best for you at all times.
